HIV PRIMARY CARE FELLOWSHIP

Training Family Physicians to Lead the Future of Integrated HIV Care

For physicians called to provide whole-person HIV care, expand access in underserved communities, and integrate specialty-level HIV treatment into full-spectrum primary care practice.

The Cahaba-UAB Family Medicine HIV Fellowship is a one-year advanced training experience designed to prepare family physicians to deliver high-quality HIV primary care within community-based and safety-net settings. Fellows develop expertise in HIV medicine, sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, Ryan White systems of care, and longitudinal primary care… all within the same integrated clinical environment.

This fellowship is built for physicians who believe HIV care should be relational, comprehensive, and deeply connected to the realities of everyday primary care.

Graduates are prepared to serve as HIV clinical leaders, educators, and advocates in FQHCs, underserved communities, and mission-driven healthcare systems.
